I started my gardening career on a country estate, where I eventually took over as Head Gardener. I trained at Hadlow to achieve my RHS The Advanced Certificate in Horticulture. What I had once believed was some kind of "magic", when I looked around established gardens, was actually just a logical progression of tasks that took place at set times throughout the year.

I went on to restore and redesign a number of historic and large gardens, including growing many of the plants from seed and cuttings. It made more sense to produce the plant stock via propagation, rather than spend thousands of pounds on new plants. This led to my interest in Pottagers and the use of cut flowers and edibles in one space.
